We wanted to see a couple of Paris' monuments (the Eiffel Tower and Moulin Rouge) at night, since we don't often get the chance. So we slept late and just hung out around our place until it got dark and then we headed out.
First stop, the Eiffel Tower from Trocadero. We weren't the only ones with this great idea, ha ha.

Paris got the nickname "City of Light" back when Louis XIV was king. In 1667, he ordered his lieutenant general of police to make the streets safer. Lanterns were placed on almost every main street and residents were asked to light their windows with candles or lamps. This helped prevent lawbreakers from hiding in dark alleys from the police.
